Belfast’s Morning Claws stirs harmonies into electro-pop sound on debut single

Seems like there’s a lot of electro-pop out there in the indie wilds lately, which, of course, means there’s a lot of dull electro-pop. Then there’s Morning Claws.

The Belfast band is more than just another bleep-blorp kid with a keyboard and a name involving neon, beaches or jewelry. In fact, the fivesome is off to an exceedingly good start on its debut single, “Slack Magic,” which mixes layers of alluring male-female vocal harmonies with a deep, buzzy beat and an insistent synthesizer pattern.

The tune is due digitally April 11, or you can grab it right now as a little something to tide you over while Morning Claws records its first LP.
