Vivian Girls announce details of third LP, ‘Share the Joy’; give away poppy mp3

New drummer, new label, new record (and sweet new duds, above): Vivian Girls return this spring with “Share the Joy,” the Brooklyn trio’s first album for Polyvinyl, and first with drummer Fiona Campbell (her predecessor left for Best Coast).

The Girls describe the album as “cleaner and more hi-fi” and “more pyschedelic and less shoegaze,” claims that seem born out by the free song, “I Heard You Say.” (Download it here, in exchange for your e-mail address.)

With layers of drowsy vocal harmonies and simple jangling guitar, the song has a hazy late ’60s California pop vibe that Mama Cass herself would dig.

“Share the Joy” is due April 12.
