Sharon Van Etten to release second LP in October; gives away ‘Love More’ mp3

Sommelier by training, lovelorn by happenstance, musician by avocation: It’s Sharon Van Etten, and she has a new album on the way.

The Jersey-born, Brooklyn-residing singer and songwriter released her debut, “Because I Was in Love,” in 2009. It was a fairly minimal album, particularly in contrast to the darkly lush free song from “Epic,” her second album.

And there’s not even that much happening on “Love More.” It’s stately and languorous, with a steady drone from what sounds like an accordion, along with spare percussion and subtle guitar accompaniment underpinning gorgeous layers of vocal harmonies.

It’s a beautiful sound from an artist most certainly poised to reach a wider audience. “Epic” is due Oct. 5 on Ba Da Bing! Records.
