Pop duo Boxharp gets love from David Bowie, prepares new LP ‘The Green’

If David Bowie digs it, it’s probably worth checking out: the English rock star recently devoted space on his website to plugging experimental pop duo Boxharp.

The group is a project of singer Wendy Allen and producer Scott Solter (Mountain Goats, Superchunk, St. Vincent, etc.), who release latest album, “The Green,” is due May 4 on Hidden Shoal.

From now until the release date, they’re giving away the title track as a free download here. It’s a vivid, startlingly lush song with wintry piano, booming drums and Allen’s crystalline vocals stacked in layers sure to appeal to fans of St. Vincent.
