Obviously there’s more to Iceland’s music scene than Bjork and Sigur Ros. Just how much more seems like something we’re going to learn in great detail in 2010.

First, there is the absolutely gorgeous new album from Seabear, due in early February. Then there’s Lay Low, the musical alter-ego of singer Lovisa Elisabet Sigrunardottir, whom Paste has described as the “Icelandic Patsy Cline.” (Hey, U.S. music writers: enough with comparing singers from other countries to singers from this one.)

She’s already landed songs on “Grey’s Anatomy” and the KCRW-FM show “Morning Becomes Eclectic” (and served as music director for the Pulitzer-winning play “How I Learned to Drive” in Iceland), now Lay Low has set March 9 for the release of her North American debut, “Farewell Good Night’s Sleep.”

Produced in London by White Stripes collaborator Liam Watson, the album features 10 originals like the lilting song “By and By” (below)  and a Lefty Frizzel cover.
