His first album, “Boy Gone Wrong,” drew generous reviews from the likes of Time Out NY and the Village Voice, now Manhattan singer and songwriter Pete Galub is hard at work on the follow-up.

Galub has posted two of the new songs here. You can listen for free, but slipping him a couple bucks for the privilege will help him finish the whole album, hint hint. And frankly, these songs are worth paying for.

One of the two, “Reaquaintance,” is a pulsing rocker packed full of jagged guitars. The other, “300 Days in July,” is more plaintive and introspective, with quiet drums underpinning jangling guitar and reverby vocals.

Galub is backed by Chris Moore on drums and vocals and Tom Gavin on bass. The songs were recorded by Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans, Eno) and mixed by Bryce Goggin (Pavement).
