With 40-odd days left in 2009, it’s probably a little early to start handicapping records for placement on best-of lists in 2010. So let’s just say that the new Beach House album is really, really good.

The record, “Teen Dream,” started taking shape after core duo Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally managed a few weeks of inactivity when they returned home to Baltimore last winter following near-constant touring behind their 2008 release, “Devotion.” As the songs coalesced, they lit out for a converted church in upstate New York, where they spent a solid month shaping “Team Dream.”

Although the album doesn’t come out until Jan. 26, Sub Pop just couldn’t resist offering a sneak peek of “Norway,” a lush and atmospheric song with glimmering cascades of guitar and breathy vocals from Legrand.
