Holopaw gives away lovely first song from third album, due in November
No less an indie-rock personage than Isaac Brock praises Holopaw’s John Orth as one of the few real singers out there.
“That’s what grabbed me: the singing and lyrics,” Brock, of Modest Mouse, says in a press release about Holopaw’s new album, “Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness.,” due Nov. 3 on Bakery Outlet.
Indeed, the first song, “The Art Teacher and the Little Stallion,” features airy, almost delicate vocals from Orth over a chunky electric guitar and sweetly swelling strings.
The Little Stallion is a recurring character on the album, which chronicles his coming of age in a kaleidoscope of dreamlike images implied by the song titles: “The Lazy Matador,” “Boys on Motorbikes,” “Black Lacquered Shame.”
The Florida band plans a full East Coast tour this fall.
